Der elegante Pudel begann seine Karriere nicht auf dem Samtkissen, sondern im kalten Wasser. Seine Urspr&uuml;nge liegen in der Jagd auf Wasserv&ouml;gel. Sein Name leitet sich vom altdeutschen &bdquo;puddeln&ldquo; ab, was so viel wie &bdquo;im Wasser planschen&ldquo; bedeutet.<br>Sein charakteristischer Schnitt war urspr&uuml;nglich rein funktional: Das geschorene Fell an den Gelenken und der Brust sollte die Bewegungsfreiheit sch&uuml;tzen, w&auml;hrend die pomponf&ouml;rmigen Fellb&uuml;schel an den Gelenken und der Rute die lebenswichtigen Organe in dem kalten Wasser warmhielten.
